you have to disconnect the battery. remove the left motor mount and support the engine with a jack. remove the battery cable and solenoid wire from the starter. remove 3 15mm bolts from starter and remove from bellhousing. How do i change the starter on a 2000 Dodge Intrepid?
the easiest way to do that one is get it up on a set of car ramps or on a lift ,remove the battery cable then remove the left side engine mount and jack the engine up just a a little then remove the wire from the starter, and there are 3 bolts that hold it on,,remove those, and then it will come down from the bell housing, reversal of this to install it, the higher it is in the air the easier it is to do,good luck with it.How do i change the starter on a 2000 Dodge Intrepid?
Your best bet is to buy a service manual for your car and read the procedure. IF there is ANY doubt in your mind as to your ability to perform the task at hand- pay a professional technician to do the job.

Be aware that a jack is required to lift the engine and remove the left motor mount to gain access to the starter. How do i change the starter on a 2000 Dodge Intrepid?
go to the library and check out a Haynes, Chiltons or Intrepi specific manual ,, Any of them will give you good directions on how to change the starter.
