How to change a starter on a John Deere 318?

1 disconnect battery 2 locate the starter 3 disconnect wires from starter if possable at this time. ( you may have to remove some of the tin work on the engine) starter will be held in with 2 bolts (metric in size) remove these starter should pull out at this time..... keep in mind before oyu do all this that you may just need a new selonoid. If you really wanna get crafty your JD dealer would have a rebuild kit for the old starter too. PS im a JD mechanic lolHow to change a starter on a John Deere 318?
I've found that the LX790 must be removed to access the starter. I'd provide more details is space allowed.

I'd say your best bet is to find a repair manual. Other than that I'm sure it would be set up like a car so look for the starter some where near the transmission.
