You should consider replacing the whole starter if the solenoid is worn out than everything else probably is too...it will save you the time and effort of having to pull the starter more than onceHow do I the change starter solenoid in a 1995 chevy silverado?
Just a couple hand tools. Be sure to disconnect the negetive battery cable first. If this a 4X4, it's a little harder due to the transfer case but it can be done. The best help and instruction guide would be to get a Chilton's or Haynes repair manual for you truck - can be purchased at Auto Zone and other auto parts stores. I have a Haynes and it got me through no problem. Good luck! How do I the change starter solenoid in a 1995 chevy silverado?
Not really, just alill out of the way as it is located on the passenger's side, where the tranny and engine meet. So, you'll need a couple of 5/8%26quot; wenches and/or maybe a socket and racket, to help speed thing along alill(and some rags). [bold]Most importantly[\bold] the very first thing you'll want to do is dis-connect the battery. Then, you can process to start to drop the starter out from underneath the truck. So, you'll be able to get to the solenoid. Which is attached to the starter. Once you get the starter unbolted(and dis-connect the three elect. leads). Which is only held in w/ two bolts. Pullin the solenoid out of the starter is a piece of cake, only one(or poss. two) bolts/screws holds it on.

Below(1st link) I've managed to locate a thread over on the FSC site. Where this one guy is removin the starter on his 94 Silverado. Maybe it'll give you more insight and/or directions. Then, I've also, included the seach results(2nd link). In case you may have some other questions. You can look thru these and maybe find some more answers.

Just take your time and try to be patient in the removal process.

It is all part of the starter unit itself---voltage regulator, solenoid and starter motor. It is bolted under the truck, on the engine with the big power cables from the battery---do NOT remove or try this with out a lift and proper knowledge and tools. You could arc weld a tool to the frame trying to mess with the high power--a short can blow the computer too--as well as burn you. Go to a pro and have a new starter unit put on
