Changing the starter on my 2000 plymouth neon?

i have gotten off all of the harnesses and power wires, now when i loosen the lower bolt to remove the starter, there is a metal shield in the way not allowing the bolt to back all the way out so i can remove the starter, any ideas on how to get around thisChanging the starter on my 2000 plymouth neon?
look and see if you cant remove the shield,or it may be bent ,all it is is a heat shield for the starter,i have always been able to get them off,someone may have bent that one,because it should clear the bolt,good luck.Changing the starter on my 2000 plymouth neon?
