One bolt on the starter is inaccessible because it sits above a cover of some sort. What is the cover and how do you remove it?Trying to change 2000 Chevy Malibu starter w/3.1L?
I couldn't get my cover off either, so I just broke it off. It's basically a shield to keep mud and debris off. Some folks may think that's crude, but I never had a problem with road debris ruining my starter. Mine went out when my intake gasket started leaking and anti-freeze ran down into my starter and shorted it out. I got a replacement at a local junk-yard for $10 with a 30 day warranty.Trying to change 2000 Chevy Malibu starter w/3.1L?
