Do ear piercings done with a needle and without a stud heal faster?

I was told, having your ear pierced with a needle, and opting for a captive ball ring instead of a stud, results in a faster healing time. The reason is because there would be less trauma with the piercing, and less irritation afterwards with a captive ring, instead of a tight fitting stud... any truth to this? Those who were pierced with a needle, how long did you wait before you changed your starters?Do ear piercings done with a needle and without a stud heal faster?
Absolutely true.

Think about it like a knife. If you take a dull butter knife and try to cut through something like a piece of meat, it's not going to be a nice cut. It's going to be difficult to get it through. If you take a sharp knife, it's going to be easier to cut it and it's going to be a better cut. Ear rings in piercing guns are extremely dull and needles are sharp. Needles cause a lot less trauma.

Plus, studs don't allow room for swelling. Barbells or rings do.

Go to a real piercer, not some 17 year old girl in the mall.Do ear piercings done with a needle and without a stud heal faster?
A stud gun puts in a rather small hole. It usually uses a disposable point to reduce the risk of infection. Some places a needle is preferable because of the location. But an ear is an easy place for a stud gun. If taken care of there would be no more chance of infection from a gun. But at ring could potentially %26quot;pick up%26quot; germs from mere exposure to the air. We also tend to fiddle with rings with germy hands. They would then be brought into the piercing.

Go with the stud and gun. Sounds like someone just wants to practice needle piercing.Do ear piercings done with a needle and without a stud heal faster?
What Brittany said. Piercing guns are a stupid idea. They can't be properly sterilized, they cause unnecessary trauma to the tissue, which increases you healing time. The butterfly backs used to pierce actually help hold in bacteria and infectious agents, and their instructions to turn the stud helps to embed bacteria in the holes. Your piercing can't swell properly, and if you have problems with it you don't have a licensed piercer to go to for help. While you'll have to pay a little more for a needle piercing, it's money well spent
